Performance tonight and lots of other thoughts.

Tonight I am performing a version of PJ Harvey's Taut and the piece "The dick of patriarchy and the head of capitalism OR Giving head to patriarchal capitalism" at the WOW Café Theatre, 59 E 4th Street in Manhattan. Doors at 9:30 PM, Show starts at 10:00 PM! And tomorrow morning I'm going to Toronto for a few days! Now: Time for me to get my black swan (not the bad movie) look together!

Yesterday I recorded some spoken word with a musician. Than in Courtney Love's shoes I started writing a poem and stole a lyric from Kat Bjelland/Babes in Toyland, which Courtney incidentally also has done many times. Than South Indian Thali with two of the bestest. Than down to the East River and in solitude sing/scream Fiona Apple and Amy Winehouse with the Full Moon and the river as my audience (I love going to the places where no one goes on a Friday night) and than I went to a bar and had good important political conversations.
The singing session made me realize I must do a cover of this one in the last shows of "In burning - In bashing back - In blooming" and in the poetry readings I'll be doing after releasing my spoken word album! It's just, ahh, so ♥, it's intense and it deals with processing rape and being bad at twosome relationships. And Fiona's live-version... It's like she has something inside of her, she just can't contain herself - I can relate to that... 3.00-4.30=cathartic amazingness

Oh and more of my love for Fiona, what happens from 2 minutes onwards in the performance below is just so beautiful. I think I recognize the feelings she's having on stage here, it's what happens when you are given the limelight in a context (like fashion awards) that you don't respect and you do what every respectable Punk would do - You subvert that space!
Another subverter back in the day and here at the same awards show 1997, "No matter if you are gay or straight or insane (points to herself)":

Oh and PS Fashion as in creativity and art (AND AS APOLITICAL TOOL, GENDERFUCKING!) when it comes to clothing and style is far from necessarily negative, but the mainstream fashion world is a fascist world when it comes to body politics, hots and nots, capitalism, profits, do's and don'ts etc. etc. As Fiona screams: Go with yourself!

And speaking of Courtney, her art exhibit was very good and I especially do LOVE the name "And she's not even pretty".

More on the exhibition from feminist Jezebel.

And when Courtney talks about her eating habits I realize that I'm never quite going to reach her level of eccentricity, although I do fit into her shoes and did graduate from her school of charm ;-)
PS1. I think it's funny that "Alexander Alvina" often proves too much to handle for people so they write my name as "Alexandra" in replies to me
PS2. I think it's funny that when I meow at the stray cats here, they look over their shoulder 1, 2, 3 times as if wondering are you a human or a cat? Only Buenos Aires trumphs New York in stray cats - but NYC is better suited for being Catwoman by night, climbing skyscrapers. I wanna learn.
PS3 I get all giddy every time I see a sewer rat, we share many affinities... Survivors. Dirty punks. More active by night. Like to bite. Strange that I identify both with the rats and the cats.
PS Sister Spit, The Queerfeminist poetry, performance and writing tour, in Brooklyn last Monday was FANTASTIC!
